Profound alternatives: eight tools you can buy without a demo

Profound is the best-funded platform in this category and the only one on this page with no self-serve paid plan. If you searched for this, you have probably hit that. Here is what Profound's pricing page actually says, and eight alternatives with a price on them.

What Profound does well

First, because an alternatives page that cannot say what the incumbent is good at is not worth reading.

  • Up to nine answer engines tracked on Enterprise, which is close to the widest coverage available.
  • Prompt Volumes, built on what Profound says is 1.9 billion real user prompts. Every prompt-volume figure in this category is a proxy, but this is the largest proxy anyone has published.
  • Agent Analytics that attributes AI-sourced traffic across your domains, with integrations for Cloudflare, Akamai, Fastly, Vercel and the rest.
  • SSO, SAML and SOC 2 on Enterprise, and a $180M Series D behind it, which matters if procurement asks whether the vendor will exist next year.

Why people look for a Profound alternative

Each of these is from Profound's own pricing page, read on 21 September 2026.

There is no self-serve paid plan

The pricing page has two columns: Trial, which is free, and Enterprise, which is custom and reached through a demo. There is nothing between them. If you wanted to put a card in and start, that option is not offered.

The trial tells you almost nothing

Ten prompts, run once, on ChatGPT only, in one language and one region, with no history, no exports and no API. A single run of a prompt is a draw, not a rate, because assistants generate each answer fresh. The trial shows you the interface. It cannot show you whether you are visible.

You are buying an AI marketing platform, not a tracker

Profound's own page leads with 'Meet your AI Marketer': agents, credits, a context manager, Profound Sheets. Answer Engine Insights is one section of it. If what you want is to know whether ChatGPT names you and which pages it cites, most of what you would be paying for is something else.

The price is not published

We are not going to quote it. There is a Reddit thread on the first page of Google asking what the Enterprise plan costs, which tells you two things: people want to know, and Profound has decided not to say. Treat any figure you read elsewhere as a guess.

Profound pricing, as published

Plans and what each includes, in the vendor's own terms. Prices are monthly.

PlanPriceIncludes
TrialFree10 prompts, run once, ChatGPT only, 1 language, 1 region, limited AI Marketer credits, no history, exports or API
EnterpriseCustomTailored prompt plan, up to 9 answer engines, AI Marketer credits for the team, agents, dedicated support, SSO/SAML, SOC 2

That is the whole page. No monthly figure is printed for Enterprise, and Trial is not a plan you can measure with. Read from tryprofound.com/pricing on 21 September 2026. Profound's pricing page.

The eight Profound alternatives

Ranked on what the cheapest plan includes, the same criterion as our comparison page. We are first on it because ours is the only entry plan that carries every engine with nothing sold as an add-on. Each entry says how the tool differs from Profound and nothing else; the general write-ups are on the comparison page.

  1. 1.AIMentionTracker

    $9/mo, 2 questions

A published price, from $9 a month, and a card you can put in today. Six engines on every plan, every answer stored in full with its citations, every rate with its sample size. No agents, no content pipeline, no prompt-volume dataset; it measures, and the measurement rules are public.

  2. 2.Otterly

    $29/mo Lite, 15 prompts

Self-serve from $29 with four engines included and three more as add-ons. The simplest onboarding on this page and the closest thing to Profound's breadth of extras (agent analytics, MCP, API) at a published price, on the $189 Standard plan.

  3. 3.Peec AI

    €85/mo Starter, 50 prompts

Self-serve from €85 with a client-facing dashboard that agencies like. Three models per project, more as add-ons, up to thirteen on Enterprise. The most direct Profound substitute for an agency that reports to clients.

  4. 4.Rankscale

    $20/mo Essentials; $99/mo Pro with 1,200 credits

Credit-based from $20, eight engines, a REST API and white-label on the $385 Growth plan. Closest to Profound's engine count at a price you can read.

  5. 5.AthenaHQ

    $295/mo Starter, 3,600 credits

Eleven engines on the $295 Starter, an Action Center that turns findings into fixes, and a free tier. The nearest thing to Profound's coverage with a number on the page.

  6. 6.Ahrefs Brand Radar

Included in Ahrefs Lite+ from $199/mo; prompt tracking from $50/mo

If you already pay for Ahrefs, the AI Visibility Index needs no setup and prompt tracking is $50 a month on top. Modelled figures, by Ahrefs' own description, but no demo required.

  7. 7.Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

    Add-on to a Semrush subscription

Same logic for a Semrush shop. Weekly Brand Performance updates rather than daily, and a narrower engine list, but inside a tool you already use.

  8. 8.Scrunch

    Not published

Demo-led like Profound, with an agency partner program and an agent-experience layer. We could not read a pricing page, so it does not solve the problem that brought you here.

Who should stay with Profound

Stated plainly, because it is what makes the rest of this page worth trusting.

If you are an enterprise marketing team with a mandate to do AEO at scale, a budget for a demo-led sale, and people to run agents, Profound is the serious option and we say so on our comparison page too. Its own comparison of these tools is more candid about rivals than most vendor content. Nothing below matches nine engines plus a prompt dataset of that size. The reason to look elsewhere is size, not quality.

How to choose a Profound alternative

Three questions, written for the reason you are leaving.

Decide what size of tool you actually need

Profound sells a platform: agents, a content pipeline, attribution, a prompt dataset. If what you need is to know whether assistants name you and which pages they cite, you need a tracker, and most of this page is trackers. Buy the measurement first; the rest can be added when the measurement shows something worth acting on.

Ask what the trial can prove

Ten prompts run once cannot produce a rate, and that is true of every free tier on this page, not only Profound's. The useful trial is one that runs your questions repeatedly for a week and shows the fraction. That is what a seven-day trial on a paid plan is for.

Do not confuse engine count with coverage

Nine engines sounds like more measurement than six. It is only more if the extra engines retrieve live and your buyers use them. Grok, Llama and DeepSeek answer from training data, and a rate on them is a different kind of number. Ask any vendor which of its engines retrieve live before you count them.

Questions about Profound and its alternatives

Answered from the same pricing pages.

How much does Profound cost?
Profound does not publish a price. The pricing page lists a free Trial (10 prompts, run once, ChatGPT only) and a custom-priced Enterprise plan reached through a demo. Any monthly figure you read elsewhere is not from Profound's page. Read on 21 September 2026.
Is Profound free?
The Trial is free, but it runs ten prompts once on one engine with no history or exports, so it can show you the product and not your visibility. A single run cannot produce a rate. Everything beyond that is Enterprise.
Which Profound alternative has self-serve pricing?
All eight on this page except Scrunch print a price or a plan you can start yourself. AIMentionTracker from $9, Rankscale from $20, Otterly from $29, Peec from €85, AthenaHQ from $295, and Ahrefs and Semrush as add-ons to existing subscriptions.
Does any alternative track nine engines like Profound?
AthenaHQ tracks eleven on Starter. Rankscale and Peec list eight or more, though Peec limits you to three per project below Enterprise. We track six, all on every plan, and deliberately not Grok, Llama or DeepSeek, which answer without live retrieval and are not comparable to the others.
Profound or Peec AI?
Different customers. Profound is an enterprise platform with agents and a demo-led sale. Peec is self-serve from €85 with a dashboard built for agency reporting. If you are asking the question, you are probably not Profound's customer yet, and Peec's three-model cap is the thing to check before you pick it.
